Wednesbury Depot Enhancements

The design and delivery of new and refurbished Operations, Maintenance and Control Buildings, track and associated infrastructure at Wednesbury Depot to facilitate the introduction of 21 new trams which doubles the size of the fleet to 42. The enlarged fleet will service the wider Midland Metro extension programme which has seen the completion of the Edgbaston and Wolverhampton extensions and the Birmingham East side and Wednesbury to Brierley Hill extension which are currently under construction.

Through the next four years MTT led all the stages of the depot expansion delivery, seeking RIBA submissions, negotiating contracts, driving design changes and value engineering, moving into construction delivery, and ensuring that all the many interfaces were kept in mind.”
